Client: Haven
Brief: Create a signage and wayfinding system that makes Haven unmistakable from the road and effortless to navigate once inside the park. Reduce guest friction — especially getting lost on arrival — and turn wayfinding into a distinctive, scalable expression of the brand.
Audience: UK holidaymakers arriving by car and on foot, including first-time visitors and families navigating large parks.
Outcome: A new entrance monolith concept inspired by coastal strata, paired with a clear internal wayfinding and community marker system that improved orientation across the whole journey. Guest satisfaction up 4 points. Net Promoter Score up 18 points.
THE IDEA
First impressions matter.
So we started where the journey begins, at the park entrance.
We designed a new family of entrance monoliths that act as landmarks, not labels. Bold. Sculptural. Impossible to miss.
Their layered forms are inspired by the strata of the UK coastline. Grounding each park in its location while creating a distinctive, ownable silhouette.
You don’t just arrive at Haven.
You know you’ve arrived.
DESTINCTIVE BY DESIGN
The monoliths were conceived as part of a system, not one-off statements.
Each combines:
Strong vertical presence for long-distance visibility
Layered materials referencing coast and landscape
A flexible structure that adapts across sites
The result is a recognisable arrival moment that works everywhere — and still feels local.
Drive past it once and you remember it.
Drive past it again and there’s no doubt where you are.
WAYFINDING
Once inside the park, the challenge changes. Holiday parks are big. Guests are tired, excited, often with kids in the back. Getting lost was one of the biggest drivers of frustration, setting the tone for the first few hours of a stay and having an impact on long term NPS.
We focused on building a wayfinding system around how people actually move. By car first, then on foot. Clear decisions at the right moments, without overload.
A simple zoning structure, supported by distinctive community markers, makes every area easy to identify, easy to describe, and easy to remember. Colour, naming and hierarchy work together so guests can orient themselves instantly, whether they’re driving to their caravan or walking to the pool.
When people find their caravan quickly, everything improves. The holiday starts calmer. Guests settle faster. Staff spend less time giving directions. The park works better, with wayfinding doing its job quietly, exactly as it should.
WHY IT WORKED
The new signage and wayfinding system delivered immediate results:
Fewer guests getting lost
Faster, smoother arrivals
Clear improvements in satisfaction and recommendation scores
And beyond the metrics, Haven now has something more valuable, a physical expression of its brand that’s confident, coherent and built to last.
